Our Story
Louhento Foundation was established in 2017 by Lasse and Mariet Louhento following a period that reshaped the family’s understanding of continuity, participation and long-term well-being.
During those years, everyday communities, meaningful environments and the importance of belonging took on a new significance. Experiences that once seemed ordinary became essential sources of stability, connection and perspective during a time marked by uncertainty.
Over time, these experiences shaped a broader belief in the importance of equal opportunities, accessible communities and meaningful participation, and in the role supportive environments can play in people’s lives and well-being.
The foundation was created from this perspective: from a desire to support initiatives that strengthen inclusion, reduce barriers to participation and help build more connected communities.
Today, Louhento Foundation supports long-term initiatives that expand opportunities for participation, strengthen community connection and contribute to more accessible and inclusive environments.
Over the years, the foundation has collaborated with organisations, institutions and initiatives that share a commitment to inclusion, accessibility and long-term development. Its work combines strategic support, practical initiatives and carefully built partnerships that contribute to sustainable societal development over time.
The foundation operates independently in accordance with its founding principles through the careful management of its own resources and long-term financial stewardship.

Lasse Louhento
Co-founder
Lasse has a long background in the gaming industry and has been involved in building internationally recognised projects and companies over several decades. Personal experiences connected to health and uncertainty reshaped his perspective on long-term well-being, connection and the importance of supportive environments. These experiences became one of the foundations for establishing Louhento Foundation in 2017. His long-term approach to innovation, creativity and sustainable development continues to shape the foundation’s thinking and direction.
Mariet Louhento
Co-founder
Mariet has long worked in societal development and equal opportunities, particularly in the field of sport and the development of its structures. Her work has focused on building new operating models, strengthening collaboration between different stakeholders and advancing long-term development in environments where opportunities to participate play an important role. At Louhento Foundation, her work focuses on initiatives and projects connected to participation, accessibility and well-being.
